Dropick Pickleball Cup Tournament Game Rules:

The rules of the national and international pickleball tournament organized by the International Pickleball Federation Turkey Representative Office, Turkey Pickleball Sports Club and Dropick, the first and only internationally approved pickleball market in our country, are as follows.

  1. Service Rule:

Singles Service Rule:

a. Before the match starts, the players decide who will start the serve or draw lots. The player who wins the right to serve gets the right to serve first while the other player chooses the court.
b. The player who will serve uses the first serve from the right service court.
c. Serving areas are 0-2-4-6-6-8…16…-20 doubles on the right side and 1-3-5-7…15-21 singles on the left side.
d. Errors on serve rule, The player who serves has two errors. When he/she serves, if the ball does not fall in the service court, touches the net or makes another mistake, he/she uses his/her second right.
e. The server continues to serve by changing the place of serve as the points are scored, i.e. in accordance with the odd-even point place of serve rule.
f. The server serves from outside the service line, hitting the ball below the waist line without touching the line. If he/she touches the line or does not hit the ball below the waist line, it is a fault and he/she is entitled to a second serve.
g. Serving with a bouncing ball, the server serves the ball outside the service line without accelerating the ball, i.e. without pushing the ball downward.

Doubles Service Rule:

a. Before the start of the match, the players decide who will serve or draw lots. The team that wins the right to serve gets the right to serve first while the other team chooses the court.
b. The first server of the serving team serves the first serve from the right service court.
c. The server and his teammate must wait outside the service line.
d. Serving areas, 0-2-4-6-6-8…16…-20 doubles are served from the right side and 1-3-5-7…15-21 singles are served from the left service area.
e. Serving error rule, the player who serves has two errors. When he/she serves, if the ball does not fall in the service court, touches the net or makes any other mistake, he/she uses his/her second right.
f. The server continues to serve by changing the place of serve as he/she gets points, i.e. in accordance with the odd-even point place of serve rule.
g. The server serves from outside the service line, hitting the ball below the waist line without touching the line. If he/she touches the line or does not hit the ball below the waist line, it is a fault and he/she is entitled to a second serve.
h. Serving with a bouncing ball, the server serves from outside the service line without accelerating the ball, i.e. without pushing the ball downward, by dropping the ball from waist level to the ground and serving after the ball bounces once.
i. Service exchange, if the server makes two consecutive errors or the other player gets the point, it is his/her teammate’s turn to serve and he/she serves from the right or left service court depending on the score.
j. Score announcement, the server must announce the score in matches without a referee. The score is announced before the serve (e.g. 10-11-1) after the score announcement This means the first server. First serve, if the server has made a service error, when announcing the score for the second serve, he/she must also indicate that it is the second serve (e.g. 9-4 after the score announcement one, second serve)
k. Serving and receiving, the opposing team does not change direction in a series exchange or a change of service order. Only the player in front moves to the back to receive the serve and the other player moves closer to the NVZ line.
l. Return of Service (Two Bounce Rule)
m. The serving player starts the game by serving to the opposite side of the court. After the ball has touched the ground once, the returner of the serve hits the ball and after the return ball (return ball) has touched the ground, the game returns to the normal rally.
n. After the double bounce rule, the service ball and the return ball have touched the ground, the game is played freely.

2. Number of Sets and Score:

a. In official matches played in national and international pickleball tournament rules organized by the International Pickleball Federation Turkey Representative Office, Turkey Pickleball Sports Club and Dropick, the score and number of sets can be changed according to the tournament feature, age group and region. However, in official tournaments, matches are played over three sets of 21 points and the team or player who wins two sets wins the match.
b. Number of sets, sets are played over three sets and the team or player who wins two sets wins the match.
c. Point rule, set scores are played over 21 points. The first player or team to reach twenty-one points with a two-point difference wins the match. There must be a two-point difference to win in set play. In case of a 20-20 score, the match is extended to 22. While the game continues until there is a two-point difference, the first player to reach 30 points is considered to have won the set.
d. A set ends with a maximum score of 30 points. The first team or player to reach thirty points during the set is deemed to have won the set.

Tie-Break:

u. If the set score is 1-1 in the matches, the court will be changed after the first player or team reaches 10 points while the third set is played as a tie-break.
v. When a player or team reaches the first ten points in a tie-break, the court will be changed. A 2nd minute time-out is allowed during the field change. The first player or team to reach twenty-one (21) points wins the game. If there are not two differences up to 30 points, the first player or team to reach 30 points in the tie-break set is deemed to have won the game.

2. Time-out Right:

a. In pickleball matches, there is no time-out in the first set unless there is an injury or health problem.
b. In the second and third sets, there is a maximum of one minute time-out, one time in each set. Players or teams using the time-out must take their places on the court within one minute to start the game.
c. In case of injury or discomfort, the game will continue after the intervention of the medical staff or a maximum five-minute break will be taken, as indicated by the medical staff. The player who is unable to return to the game will forfeit the match 2-0 (21-0).
d. In case of an injury or health problem in a doubles match, the other team will be deemed to have won the match if, according to the medical officer’s report, the player is unable to continue the game. If the tournament model is played in alternating teams format, one of the other players of the team can continue the game instead of the injured player.

3. Match Play Status:

a. In case of weather conditions or other circumstances that prevent the tournament (match) from being played, the match will be suspended. Depending on the number of sets and the score and the decision of the referee committee, the match will be replayed on the same day or on a different day, starting from where the match left off or from 0-0.

4. Point System:

a. In matches, the winning player or team gets two (3) points while the losing player or team gets one (1) point.
b. In group matches, an average score is calculated based on the match scores of the players or teams with equal points.
c. In the event that a player or team withdraws from the tournament or is disqualified from the tournament before the start of the matches after the tournament flicks are drawn, the player or team in the lower ranking is included in the tournament in the same flicker if it is the start of the tournament.

Note: Matches are held in group or elimination according to the tournament characteristics. This will be announced on the official website and social media before the tournament.
